The Best Pushchair Accessories: What Do You Need?

Finding the right pushchair is a task in itself, but it doesn’t end there. Once you’ve found the perfect pram for your bundle of joy, it’s time to start thinking about accessories. It’s not just a matter of style (although of course, that doesn’t hurt). The right equipment really does make days out so much smoother and easier.

We can almost hear you groaning about making even more decisions about what’s best to buy, but don’t despair, because this guide is here to take you through all of the must-have pushchair accessories and help you decide which ones are right for you. And trust us – you’ll be glad you did as these pushchair accessories are not only great for your little one, but parents love them too for their practicality!

Changing Bag

Your changing bag goes wherever your baby goes, so it’s important to find one that you love. The right bag can make life so much easier. Look for a durable product with plenty of storage compartments to help you stay organised and efficient. It should be able to fit all your baby essentials when you’re out and about, but that doesn’t mean you need to go for a big and bulky look. Changing bags come in a  number of different sizes and fabulous styles, too!

It’s also best to go for a changing bag with straps that attach to the pushchair so you don’t struggle having to carry everything while trying to keep control of the pram.

Carrycot

A light and portable carrycot is essential for your baby’s safety and comfort from birth up to six months of age. A carrycot allows baby to lay down flat, which is important for spinal development and optimal breathing. It also makes it a lot easier to move a sleeping infant, which is a big bonus for parents! Your carrycot needs to match your pushchair base unit, and they often come as part of a travel system.

Parasol

A parasol keeps your baby cool and protects their delicate skin from UV rays during the summer. Choose one that attaches quickly and easily to the pushchair to save hassle.

Rain Cover

The glorious Great British weather makes a rain cover an essential pushchair accessory. They also offer protection from the wind on cold, blustery days. They’re simple to put on and take off as necessary and easy to clean, too!

Some pushchair models already come with a rain cover, but because most are a universal fitting, picking one out shouldn’t be too hard.

Footmuff

Babies are susceptible to the cold, so you’ll need a footmuff to keep them nice and warm, especially during the winter months. Footmuffs are great because while blankets can be kicked off or socks get lost somehow, these stay in place

Footmuffs come in a variety of styles and are lined for comfort and warmth. When choosing a footmuff, you will want to make sure it will fit your pushchair. For ultimate practicality, choose a water resistant one that folds away easily.

Seat Liner

Quality pushchairs should already be designed with your baby’s safety and comfort in mind, but there’s nothing wrong with a little added layer of luxury – and one that protects the seat too! Spillages are part and parcel of parenthood, so a seat liner is a must to keep your pushchair in tip-top condition.

Seat liners also add that extra padding to keep your little one cosy and comfortable. Some seat liners will help regulate temperature, so not only will they keep your little one warm in the winter but also cool in the summer. They look great too!

Like with footmuffs, you will want to make sure the seat liner you choose can fit properly with your pushchair.

Buggy Board

buggyboardFor parents with babies and toddlers, a buggy board can be an absolute essential! A buggy board clips onto the back of a pushchair, allowing small children from around two to five years of age to ride along when they’re feeling tired - or just for fun. Some pushchairs already come with this accessory, but if yours does not, they are worth getting due to them being a lot cheaper and less bulky than a double pram.

We love the Bumprider because it fits all strollers, so you won’t have to worry about buying a new one if you decide to change pushchairs.

Cupholder

Your changing bag should have at least one cup holder but a clip-on extra never hurts, and it’s perfect for when you want easy access to baby’s bottle - or your extra-strength iced coffee.

Hand Muff

Fumbling about with gloves often feels like more hassle than it’s worth. A hand muff attaches to the pushchair handle so that you can enjoy warm hands without worrying about gloves. They’re often fully lined, keeping your hands warm while you’re out on your travels with your little one. Plus, they look great too!

Pram Hood Faux Fur Trim

This last one’s more for style than anything else, but who doesn’t want their pushchair to look good? A pram hood fur trim looks beautifully chic and cosy on a cold winter’s day. They are easily attached and removed as necessary too – so switch up those styles when it suits!
